Flaming Lips have announced their full-fledged return to the road with a mammoth world tour set to begin in August 2021 and run through July 2022. The concerts will mark the band’s first non-space bubble shows since before the pandemic.
The Oklahoma City-bred psych-rockers will hit the road on August 20th for a show at the Ogden Amphitheatre in Utah to begin the tour, followed by a show the next night at Psycho Las Vegas. After a couple months’ break, the tour will resume with November dates across the United States before breaking again until March 2022. Once the band gets back out in March 2022, however, the Flaming Lips are on the road clear through to June, beginning a jaunt of United Kingdom gigs in May before wrapping up on July 22nd at Galway International Arts Festival in Ireland.

Ahead of the announcement, Flaming Lips also appeared on CBS This Morning to discuss the band’s pandemic-minded space bubble concerts at The Criterion in Oklahoma City over the winter.
“I think I’m descended from some, like, indestructible Viking guy who, if he wasn’t digging out of the snow or fighting some battle, he probably was gonna go crazy,” frontman Wayne Coyne said of the inspiration for the concerts. “I think I’m like that, if I’m not doing something I’m gonna go crazy.”
