Bob Dylan Busts Out ‘Moon River’ In Savannah

Bob Dylan brought his “Never Ending Tour” to the Johnny Mercer Theatre in Savannah on Tuesday night. Dylan dusted off a cover of “Moon River” for the first time since 1990 to conclude the show.

The legendary artist debuted his rendition of “Moon River” on August 27, 1990 at the Holiday Star Music Theater in Merrillville, Indiana. Dylan dedicated “Moon River” to Stevie Ray Vaughan that night, hours after the acclaimed blues guitarist died in a helicopter crash. Bob hadn’t played “Moon River” since but used the opportunity of performing at the Johnny Mercer Theatre to revive the cover. Johnny Mercer penned the lyrics to the original, which was composed by Henry Mancini. While audio or video of last night’s “Moon River” hasn’t surfaced as of press time, check out audio of the debut from 1990:
