Mike Myers To Play Seven Characters In Netflix Series ‘The Pentaverate’

102

If there’s one actor who could pull off playing a multitude of characters in one comedy, it’s definitely Mike Myers. All you have to do is look at the magic that was Austin Powers to figure that one out.

He’s announced he’ll be taking things up a notch, tackling a total of SEVEN roles in his upcoming Netflix series The Pentaverate. Though he’ll be playing a large majority of the roles, he won’t be the only actor featuring in the show.

As reported by Variety, Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich AsiansCommunity), Keegan-Michael Key (The PromThe Lion King), Debi Mazar (GoodfellasYounger), Richard McCabe (The AudienceEye In The Sky), Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), and Lydia West (Years And Years) have joined the cast, and will all appear alongside Myers.

The series is based around the concept of five men who have been “working to influence the world events for the greater good since the Black Plague of 1347.” The story follows a Canadian journalist who is then caught up in a mission to find out the truth. He will quite possibly end up saving the world himself.

The series will run for six half an hour episodes, and is currently in production.

Myers first referenced The Pentraverate in the 1993 movie So I Married An Axe Murderer, in which his character Stuart Mackenzie claimed it was made up of “The Queen, The Vatican, The Getty’s, The Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up.” Watch that clip below.

Rumours of the show first emerged back in 2019 when Variety reported that Myers had locked in a deal with Netflix to executive produce and star in his own series.
