Aussie hip-hop legends Hilltop Hoods have finally announced their long-awaited return today, with the announcement of brand new album The Great Expanse.

Along with the announcement of their eighth (!) studio album — due out on Friday, 22nd February — the group have also dropped a fresh new track dubbed ‘Leave Me Lonely’.

Group member Suffa released a hilarious but all-too-real statement on what the track is about, saying it’s a “a song about the eternal struggle of being cornered by a close-talker”.

“It’s a song that’s relatable to anyone that’s ever been outside. Or in a room with more than four people.”

We feel that.

‘Leave Me Lonely’ contains elements of Richard Berry’s song ‘Have Love Will Travel’, and is the follow-up to Hilltop Hoods’ previous single ‘Clark Griswold’. Meanwhile, The Great Expanse will mark the group’s first album since 2014’s Walking Under Stars.

Just in case all that sweet Hoods content wasn’t enough for you, they’ve also dropped a trailer for their just-released documentary Restrung Live. The doco follows the group on their ‘Restrung’ tour back in 2016, and gives an intimate look at the behind the scenes of one of the country’s pioneering hip-hop acts.

You can catch Hilltop Hoods at Falls Festival this New Year period.
