Sierra Ferrell Welcomes Billy Strings On New Single, “Bells Of Every Chapel” [Listen]

Sierra Ferrell has released “Bells Of Every Chapel”, the latest single off her upcoming album, Long Time Coming, featuring guest contributions by Billy Strings. Ferrell’s debut album is due out on August 20th via Rounder Records.

The rising singer-songwriter immediately fits into the fold of country revivalists alongside the likes of Margo Price with her vintage songwriting. With Strings by her side, Ferrell writes music that is both new and instantly familiar. While Ferrell maintains control of the vocals, Strings can be heard throughout the song adding understated guitar flourishes which give the song some authentic mountain color.

Even though the song is a prime example of indigenous American folk music and bluegrass, the tune’s inspiration actually came from across the pond.

“The way this song came about is kinda funny,” Ferrell wrote on Facebook. “I was watching the TV show The Crown and Queen Elizabeth II had said something about ‘the bells of every chapel.’ As soon as I heard that phrase, I just started writing. A week went by and I had my good friend Oliver Bates Craven help me finish writing it. When it came time to record, I knew I wanted Billy Strings involved, because the song has a lot of space for him to play guitar noodles.”
