Parquet Courts unveiled “Homo Sapien,” a song featured on their forthcoming Sympathy For Life studio album as well as a video for the new single. The 11-track follow-up to 2018’s Wide Awake arrives on Rough Trade Records this Friday, October 22.

The band crafted the bulk of the material on their new album out of improvised jams. Parquet Courts tapped Rodaidh McDonald and John Parish to co-produce Sympathy For Life. “Most of the songs were created by taking long improvisations and moulding them through our own editing,” noted guitarist and keyboardist Austin Brown in a press release heralding the LP. “The biggest asset we have as artists is the band. After 10 years together, our greatest instrument is each other. The purest expression of Parquet Courts is when we are improvising.”

Parquet Courts will premiere the album along with visuals provided by 11 different artists through the NoonChorus livestream event Feel Free: Sympathy For Life, Visualized tomorrow (Wednesday, October 20) starting at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Basketball Hall Of Famer Bill Walton provided an introduction for the one-night-only livestream, which also features contributions from comedian/writer and actor Joe Pera of Adult Swim fame.
