H.E.R. Performs ‘For Anyone’ On ‘Colbert’

125

Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist H.E.R. played “For Anyone” on last night’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. H.E.R. delivered a stripped-down rendition of a track featured on her recent album, Back Of My Mind, with a live band at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City.

H.E.R., the nom de plume of Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, sat at an electric piano and sang the heartfelt take on “For Anyone.” Back Of My Mind arrived via RCA in June. The 21-track album marks H.E.R.’s official debut full length record and came after 2017 and 2019 compilations consisting of previously released EPs mixed with a handful of new songs.

“I didn’t wanna pull out all my tricks at once,” H.E.R. explained during an interview with Variety. “My first few [releases] were just a small piece of who I am musically, and it was a matter of time before I could reveal others. I’ve always been a huge fan of Coldplay and Led Zeppelin and Radiohead and alternative and rock and blues, but it wasn’t until this album that I started digging into those other elements and bringing them to R&B.”
