Marcus Rezak & Kris Myers Unveil ‘Kyoto Cocktail’ Single

114

Guitarist Marcus Rezak enlisted old friend Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myers to collaborate on his new single, “Kyoto Cocktail.” The track, which also features bassist Chris Duffy of Magic Beans and The Jauntee keyboardist Tyler Adams, arrived today via Color Red.

The instrumental song was inspired by Rezak and Myers’ mutual appreciation for the New York City fusion scene of the ’80s and ’90s. Marcus and Kris discussed their love of the music that came out of NYC in the period during a ride to a show the night before entering Color Red Studios for a session. Color Red founder and The New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts produced “Kyoto Cocktail.”

Both musicians studied at Berklee College of Music and have 50 years of touring combined under their belts. The song is described in press materials as, “a concoction of a fruitful 15-year collaborative history between two of the most highly regarded and multifaceted musicians on the modern touring circuit.”

Marcus Rezak and Kris Myers will join forces at Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver on Friday, March 4. Myers will be performing double duty as both the drummer in Rezak’s Truth In Sound band and with his own Kick the Cat project.
