A Not So QUIET RIOT at Mohegan Sun

The iconic 80s metal band performed at Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT  on February 18 2022 by Joel Shover

The Mohegan Sun Arena hosted a not so QUIET RIOT on February 18th 2022. I mean let’s face it… QUIET RIOT? Am I in the fifth grade again because I mentioned Circus Magazine in a previous review?

When I was getting into QUIET RIOT they had just reformed after the loss of guitar great Randy Rhodes and that lineup was with the late Kevin Dubrow, Rudy Sarzo, Carlos Cavazo, and the late Frankie Banali. This was back in 1982/83 -let that sink in. The band originally formed in 1975!

That being said I had a third-row ticket and I just had to see what this current lineup is all about. This 2022 Lineup of QUIET RIOT consists of Rudy Sarzo (Bass), Connecticut’s own Alex Grossi (Guitar), Johnny Kelly (Drums), and Jizzy Pearl (Vocals). I arrived on the floor and was fortunate enough to meet up with Heavy Metal Mike on the sound rig and he gave me the setlist for the show.

I would be lying to everyone one of you if I told you I did not feel the complete nostalgia of seeing that logo lit up in red on the backdrop of the stage! I tell you if they had the metal health mask on that stage fans would have crawled towards it for sure!

So now I am ready for this trip down memory lane. Jizzy lead the band out for a welcoming “Run for Cover” as all those lyrics were somehow finding their way to my frontal lobe once again. “Slick Black Cadillac” (you just sang that in your highest voice, admit it), was the next eighties heavy metal hit followed by the teenage rebellion anthem “Mama We’re All Crazy Now” (you just sang the rest of that chorus as well).

It is a “Sign of The Times” that we can relive our glorious teen years thanks to these musician’s demanding work and dedication. The one we all played over and over on our cassette players just to piss off our parents was up next “Love’s A Bitch.” It was “Condition Critical” now that all these songs had the crowd at Mohegan Sun rocking their hardest.

It was time for that extremely important dedication to the fallen members of the band with the screaming ballad “Thunderbird,” as the backdrop filled with photographic memories. We may all be a little older in this arena but tonight we were all “The Wild and The Young.” The band wanted more from the fans with “Let’s Get Crazy,” crazy is what we got, and you could feel it.

“Cum on Feel the Noise” (girls rock your boys), was next and it made for the climatic ending of the show with “Metal Health” as the fans were banging their heads and rocking their fists. Once a QUIET RIOT fan always a QUIET RIOT fan! This show is the reason you Go See Live Music.

Till The Next Show…. Joel
