The Greyboy Allstars unveiled “Got To Get Me A Job,” one of 10 covers featured on their forthcoming Get A Job: Music from the Original Broadcast Series Soul Dream album. Get A Job arrives via the band’s Knowledge Room Recordings imprint on April 1.

Get A Job: Music from the Original Broadcast Series Soul Dream consists of songs that originally aired as part of The Greyboy Allstars’ 2021 livestream series for nugs.net. The band consisting of keyboardist Robert Walter, saxophonist/flutist Karl Denson, bassist Chris Stillwell, drummer Aaron Redfield and guitarist Elgin Park worked through covers and originals from their live repertoire in the studio for Soul Dream, which was broadcast as the group was kept off the road by the pandemic.

Walter shared the following about the selections featured on GBA’s sixth album:

“We keep a running master list of around 70 tunes. From those I picked a mixture of tried-and-true live staples and songs that weren’t always in common rotation. Usually, for gigs I propose a list and then the other members edit and tweak it. For the taping, we wanted each episode to have a theme: two of them focused on originals and the other two were covers: live favorites, and music that came out on Prestige Records. The tunes on this release are the best of the covers.”

“Got To Get Me A Job” arrives after the quintet previously issued the album’s lead single, “I’ve Got Reasons.” Ann Alford originally released “Got To Get Me A Job” back in 1971 and like other songs on Get A Job has been rearranged by The Greyboy Allstars.
