Umphrey’s McGee will make its long-awaited return to Los Angeles, CA on September 2nd with a show at the Hollywood Palladium with special guests and local favorites The Main Squeeze. This will mark the progressive jam band’s debut at the Palladium and also its first concert in L.A. since 2019 [get tickets].
After performing at The Wiltern for six years straight from 2014–2019, Umphrey’s McGee will make the step up to the historic Hollywood Palladium in 2022. The 4,000-person capacity theater will allow room for the band’s ever-expanding base of rabid fans to enjoy the concert from the floor or upstairs mezzanine level.
Since the band’s last stop in the City of Angels on March 2nd, 2019, Umphrey’s McGee has experienced unprecedented growth. A period of quarantine led the band inward to assemble some of its most introspective songwriting yet on the forthcoming album Asking For A Friend. Out on July 1st via the sextet’s Nothing Too Fancy Music imprint, the product of lockdown anxieties coupled with the grief not only of loved ones but also lost time hears a band continuing to redefine itself more than 20 years in the making.
“We are still entrenched in the jam-band scene,” keyboardist Joel Cummins said. But Asking For A Friend “is not a jam-band record. There isn’t improvisation on it, really. There are guitar and keyboard solos. But this is an effort to keep things tight and concise, to get after the essence of what these songs are about.”

Since emerging from quarantine, Umphrey’s McGee has made up for lost time with the return of Summer Camp Music Festival as well as the much-anticipated fulfillment of the band’s RÖCKJAVIK destination event in Iceland earlier this year. All of that momentum will carry the band across the country this summer, performing in California for the first time since High Sierra Music Festival 2019.
