Russian Circles on Thursday announced details of Gnosis, the band’s first new album in three years. Along with the announcement, the instru-metal trio shared the lead single, “Conduit”, and a slate of world tour dates. Gnosis is out on August 18th via Sargent House.
“Conduit” is a relentlessly heavy, riff-driven track that chugs through barrier after barrier. The song is the first preview of the new writing style Mike Sullivan (guitar), Dave Turncrantz (drums), and Brian Cook (bass) employed on their eighth album. Partially a response to COVID-induced social distancing, each member brought fully-formed compositions into the studio, rather than the old method of fleshing out rough concepts as a group. This approach allowed the writers’ initial vision to remain intact as the band sifted through the range of styles presented and plucked out the most “physically cathartic pieces.”

Russian Circles will take Gnosis on the road in the fall with a headlining tour of the U.S. with Rezn as support for the second leg of dates beginning in October (the band has not announced an opener for the first leg in September). In March 2023, Russian Circles will travel to Europe for a co-headlining tour with Cult of Luna.
