Dave Matthews Band stopped by XFINITY Theatre in Hartford, CT on Saturday. Now in the midst of an extensive summer tour, the group delivered a 20-song show that featured a mix of fan favorites, tour debuts, bust-out teases, and eclectic interpolations.
The band kicked off the show with “One Sweet World”, which featured a “Swim Naked” outro, before playing a few more fan favorites including “When the World Ends”, “What Would You Say”, and “Break for It”. The band then drew a jam from “The Stone”, interpolating a bit of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” into the tune’s tour debut.
Next came “Funny the Way It Is” off 2009’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King and “Lying in the Hand of God”, which included “American Baby Intro” and “Bourbons & Lacs” interpolations. After working through “Grace Is Gone”, “Can’t Stop”, “Dancing Nancies”, and “Walk Around the Moon”, the band worked Sly and the Family Stone‘s “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” into “So Damn Lucky”, which was followed by “Break Free”. “Say Goodbye” then made its first appearance on a setlist since October of 2021, followed by “Crush”.
Dave then offered a solo tease of “Kill the Preacher”, which led into “Why I Am”, before the band wrapped up the main set with “Come On Come On” and crowd favorite “Ants Marching”, which featured a drum intro from Carter Beauford. They returned to the stage for a two-song encore that included a stripped down rendering of “Steady as We Go” featuring just Dave and Buddy Strong followed by a high-energy “Two Step” to close out the night.
