Lizzo performed her new single, “About Damn Time,” at Sunday’s 2022 BET Awards. The performance came after Lizzo and Live Nation pledged to donate $1 million to Planned Parenthood.
Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the BET Awards 2022 took place in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater. The show opened with Lizzo performing “About Damn Time,” which began with her playing the flute and will appear on her forthcoming album, Special. The new album set to arrive on July 15 is Lizzo’s first since 2019’s Cuz I Love You.
On Friday, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe vs. Wade, Lizzo posted that she was donating $500K in ticket sales from her upcoming The Special Tour to Planned Parenthood. The Special Tour’s promoter, Live Nation, will match Lizzo’s pledged donation, bringing the total to $1 millon.
