moe. hit day two of their tropical throe.down at Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica on Friday. The jamband stalwarts played a total of three sets at two different venues as the destination festival hit its midway point. First up was an intimate afternoon affair at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville outpost in Ocho Rios that saw them bust out Jimmy Cliff’s “The Harder They Come” and a true rarity with “Dr. Graffenberg.” The five-piece band then delivered a career-spanning two-set show back at the resort.

The quintet’s midday show at Margaritaville saw moe. mix in a number of lesser played selections from their catalog alongside longtime fan-favorites. The hour-long performance got underway with “Johnny Lineup,” the tune that dates all the back to 1992 was played for just the 20th time this century. The fifth take on “Farmer Ben” since 2015 followed. The Jim Loughlin-penned number segued straight into Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song,” which was debuted last year. moe. then dug in on a seamless run of classic old-school material stringing together “Jazz Wank,” “Spine Of A Dog” and “Buster.”

The band saved its biggest surprises for their two-song encore as they nodded to their location by unearthing “The Harder They Come.” It marked the first time the reggae classic had been played in nearly a year and just the 16th time since 2001. Next, the moe. looked to the much-beloved rarity “Dr. Graffenberg.” The Fatboy cut had been sitting on the shelf since a one-off in June 2016.

For their evening performance moe. offered up a two-set show that got underway with “Nebraska” from their 1998 LP Tin Cans & Car Tires. The opening frame was highlighted by the pairing of “Faker” and “Montego” and stretch that saw them stitch together “Seat Of My Pants,” the new original “Who You Calling Scared?” and “Kyle’s Song.” The Buffalo-born band dug in for a jam-heavy second set that used “Brent Black” to start and end the stanza. In between moe. would deliver a lengthy seamless stretch with a noteworthy take on “Moth” that featured “Shoot First” dropped in its midst.
