Ravinia Closes Through Sunday In Wake Of Mass Shootings

73

All Ravinia concerts and events have been canceled or postponed through Sunday in the aftermath of a mass shooting at Highland Park, Illinois’ Fourth of July parade that left seven dead and over 40 people injured. The announcement comes “out of a deep respect for our community.”

“This decision was made after careful consideration and in close consultation with many stakeholders, including neighbors, public officials, artists, and patrons,” added venue operators in an announcement posted on Ravinia Festival’s website and social feeds. “Our shared hope is that the reduced activity–both within the park and in the neighborhoods surrounding Ravinia–will give the community the space and quiet to reflect and heal.”

A concert featuring Sheryl Crow with Keb’ Mo’ and Southern Avenue originally scheduled for tonight (Thursday, July 7) has been postponed. Canceled shows include performances from John Fogerty (July 8), Michael Franti & Spearhead (July 9) and Lyle Lovett & His Large Band with Chris Isaak (July 10). Full refunds will be processed by August 1.
