The Killers Debut New Song ‘Boy’ At Mad Cool Festival 2022

96

The Killers premiered a new song entitled “Boy” as part of their headlining set at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, Spain on Thursday. Video featuring the debut was shared by the Las Vegas-based rock band on Instagram along with a link to pre-save a forthcoming studio version.

Brandon Flowers & Co. are currently touring Europe in support of their 2021 studio album, Pressure Machine. Flowers told NME in an interview “Boy” was originally recorded for the 2021 LP. “We’ve been teasing it a little bit,” The Killers frontman explained to NME. “It was the song that took me back home and was sort of the impetus for writing ‘Pressure Machine’. What’s interesting is that it just didn’t make it onto the record – but its absence is not a reflection of the quality of the song. It was an aesthetic decision to keep it off the record.”

“Do you wanna be the first to hear us play a new song right now?,” Flowers told the crowd before adding, “It goes like this” to introduce “Boy.” The debut arrived in the middle of The Killers’ career-spanning set in Madrid. Material from each of the band’s first six LPs made the setlist at Mad Cool Festival including five songs from 2004’s Hot Fuss. Last night’s performance concluded with the beloved “Mr. Brightside.”
