Arlo McKinley performed “The Star Spangled Banner” before a recent Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball game. The hometown singer-songwriter sang the national anthem at Great American Ball Park before last Saturday’s game against the Reds National League Central Division rivals the St. Louis Cardinals.
“I don’t know if it’s nerves or what,” McKinley told The JamBase Podcast before he sang the anthem. “But that’s one song you can’t mess up – everyone knows it.”
McKinley, a life-long Reds fan, has a tattoo of his favorite team among the many covering his arms. Following McKinley’s performance of the National Anthem, his Reds went on to lose to the Cardinals 6 – 3.
“Honored to have done this for a team I’ve stood by since I was a child,” he wrote while sharing video of the performance.
