66

Just over three months after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, an all-star collection of artists have come together for Good Music To Ensure Safe Abortion Access To All. The latest fundraising compilation from Good Music will be available to purchase on Bandcamp for 24 hours on Friday, October 7th as part of the Bandcamp Fridays program, where the platform relinquishes its cut of sales for the day.

Featured on Good Music To Ensure Safe Abortion Access To All are Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell, Bob Weir & Wolf Bros, Cat Power, David Byrne and DEVO, Death Cab for Cutie, Fleet Foxes, Gia Margaret, Grouplove, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Mac DeMarco, Maya HawkeMy Morning Jacket, Overcoats, Pearl Jam, PUP, The Regrettes, R.E.M., Sleater-Kinney, Soccer Mommy, STS9, Tegan and SaraTenacious D, Thao and Tune-Yards, Ty Segall, Wet Leg, and more. The compilation hosts previously unreleased recordings, new songs, covers, remixes, live tracks, and unreleased demos. Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) designed the album artwork.

“Every person faced with the choice to keep a pregnancy or not should have access to a safe and legal abortion should they choose one,” Tegan and Sara said. “Their body, their choice.”

One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the album will benefit nonprofit organizations that provide abortion care access to all including The Brigid AllianceNOISE FOR NOW, and Abortion Care Network. The Brigid Alliance provides travel, food, lodging, childcare, and other logistical support to people seeking abortions. NOISE FOR NOW enables artists and entertainers to financially support grassroots reproductive rights organizations and is currently working with the Abortion Care Network to aid independent abortion clinics.

“Independent clinics provide the majority of abortion care in the U.S., yet these dedicated providers often lack the visibility and resources they need to keep their doors open,” notes Jay Thibodeau, Communications Director at Abortion Care Network. “Donating to keep clinics open in every state makes a huge difference to those who need care, and bold, public support for indie providers is deeply meaningful. It also matters that people who have, provide, and support abortion know that they are not alone: most people in the U.S. support the right to abortion, and we are less alone when we can see and join unified, unapologetic calls to liberate abortion.”

See below for the full list of artists featured on Good Music To Ensure Safe Abortion Access To All and purchase the album on Bandcamp within 24 hours beginning on Friday at 12 a.m. PT. This latest effort comes after Good Music’s 2020 compilation Good Music to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy raised over $600,000 between its two installments.
