Hear Dogs In A Pile Cover moe.’s ‘Nebraska’ In Nebraska For Chuck Garvey

Dogs In A Pile accompanied Twiddle to Nebraska on Tuesday for a concert at the Waiting Room in Omaha. The Asbury Park, New Jersey-based jam quintet chose a fitting cover of moe.’s “Nebraska” to work into their opening set to honor guitarist Chuck Garvey and then members of the group sat in with Twiddle during the evening’s headlining performance.

Dogs In A Pile — consisting of guitarist/vocalists Jimmy Law and Brian Murray, bassist Sam Lucid, keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan and drummer Joe Babick — kicked off their set with original “Stevie Lew” before taking staple “G Song” past the 13-minute mark. Next up was “Today,” the band’s recently released single.

“This next song goes out to Chuck Garvey and everybody here in Nebraska,” Law told the crowd before Dogs In A Pile capably handled the cut from moe.’s Tin Cars & Car Tires LP. Garvey, who suffered a stroke last year, will rejoin moe. for portions of their upcoming New Year’s Eve concert in Philadelphia. Dogs In A Pile concluded their set at Waiting Room with the hard-hitting “Bent Strange” and funk workout “Trunk Rum.”

Murray was the first Dogs In A Pile member to guest with Twiddle. The guitarist added to “Subconscious Prelude” towards the middle of the Vermont-based quartet’s set. Law emerged for a take on the Grateful Dead classic “Eyes Of The World” a few songs later and then Kaplan contributed to the ensuing “Brown Chicken Brown Cow.” The tour moved on to Minneapolis last night, where Law joined Twiddle for “Polluted Beauty.” Both bands hit Chicago’s Park West tonight and bring the run to Covington, Kentucky’s Madison Theater on Friday.
