Andy Gadiel is the featured guest on the latest episode of JamBase partner Osiris Media’s Phish podcast Undermine. The JamBase co-founder, whose Phish page was one of the first and most important fan sites devoted to the band, discussed Phish’s otherworldly show in Dayton, Ohio that took place 25 years ago today with Phish lyricist Tom Marshall and Osiris’ RJ Bee.

Hear Phish Deliver All-Killer, No-Filler Concert In Dayton From 25 Years Ago Today
The 17th installment of Remembering Phish Fall Tour 1997 focuses on the show in Dayton, Ohio that took place 20 years ago today.
Undermine’s current Season 4 began with looks back at particularly notable Phish shows in the 1990s building up to examinations of every show of the band’s historic Fall Tour 1997. A new installment is published on the 25th anniversary of each Fall Tour ’97 concert. Previous featured guests have included Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio as well as Team JamBase’s Andy Kahn and Scott Bernstein.
RJ, Tom and Andy start today’s Undermine by talking about Gadiel.com and the early days of Phish on the internet. Both Gadiel and Bee attended the Dayton show and shared memories of the highlight-filled concert. The co-hosts and their guest pondered why the quartet decided to perform “Psycho Killer” and went over the well-constructed first set. “The playing, the tightness, there was certainly a lot of active listening happening,” Gadiel explained. “At this point in Fall ’97 they are dialed in.”
Andy also pointed out the size of the venue contributing to the show’s greatness. Gadiel then spoke about the “Tube” jam with Gadiel noting it was similar to the “Izabella” from the previous night in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The episode continues with talk of the evening’s second set. Bee explained that while the jams weren’t long during the frame, they were exceptional. One standout moment Gadiel, Bee and Marshall discussed was the return of “Boogie On Reggae Woman,” a Stevie Wonder cover last played in 1988. “It just felt like they were having fun,” Andy said.
