Gov’t Mule has postponed its run of New Year’s Eve concerts in Philadelphia and New York City “due to a medical emergency.” The blues-jam band led by Warren Haynes was due to perform tonight, December 29th, at The Met in Philly followed by shows at NYC’s Beacon Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
“After waiting for so long, we were excited to be together and finally make these shows happen, the last thing we wanted or expected was to have to postpone again, but it was an unavoidable situation,” the band wrote in a statement on social media.
This announcement comes after Gov’t Mule, like many other artists, was forced to postpone its 2021 New Year’s run due to rising COVID causes as a result of the Omicron variant. Those concerts were rescheduled to April, at which time the band was forced to punt the concerts to New Year’s Eve 2022 as Haynes recovered from a shoulder injury that kept the group off the road in spring.
The band did not offer any rescheduled dates and instead told fans, “Please keep holding on to those tickets, and we’ll update you soon with more info. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday.”
Gov’t Mule last performed on December 10th at the return of Haynes’ annual Christmas Jam in Asheville. The concert saw the band play without keyboardist Danny Louis, who was replaced by Rob Barraco.
