Watch Marcus King & Blackberry Smoke ‘Take The Highway’ At The Ryman

38

Blackberry Smoke continued their collaborative ways for the final night of their two-night stand at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. After welcoming Jamey Johnson and Brent Cobb on Thursday, BBS brought out guitarist Marcus King on Friday.

Blackberry Smoke launched the show with “All Over The Road” off their latest studio album, 2021’s You Hear Georgia. As they did on Thursday, the band leaned heavily on their 2012 album The Whippoorwill, as they just celebrated the record’s 10th anniversary last fall with full performances of the LP. BBS performed seven of the album’s 13 tracks including songs they didn’t play Thursday, “Crimson Moon” and “Everybody Knows Shes Mine.”

King would emerge 13 songs into the main set for a cover of Marshall Tucker Band’s “Take The Highway.” BBS frontman Charlie Starr and Marcus came together for some stellar harmonies on the chorus. The guitarists also swapped verses before King took a fiery extended solo.
