One Of Jerry Garcia’s Mu-Tron III Pedals Up For Auction

210

Late Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia was a big fan of Musictronics Corporation’s Mu-Tron III envelope filter. He used the pedal for watery auto-wah effect on such songs as “Shakedown Street,” “Estimated Prophet,” “Dancing In The Street” and “Feel Like A Stranger.” Garcia’s longtime handler, Grateful Dead roadie and Jerry Garcia Band manager Steve Parish wound up with one of Jerry’s Mu-Trons and put the pedal up for auction on eBay.

Note that the Mu-Tron up for auction is in poor condition, especially as compared to the one longtime GD sound engineer Dan Healy sold in 2013. Parish notes Jerry Garcia used the pedal for many years and then when the guitarist bought a new one, Steve used the old one for parts. Big Steve said Garcia used the Mu-Tron in his possession for both Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band shows.

A bid for $2,000 stands as the top bid as of press time. The auction ends on Tuesday at 3:37 p.m. Head here to place a bid. The pedal comes with a letter of authenticity from Parish.
