Pink Talking Fish will celebrate the dual anniversaries of two defining documents of rock music with a special show Friday, May 5th at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ [get tickets]. The two-set performance will see the fusion tribute act pay homage to Pink Floyd‘s The Dark Side of the Moon and Talking Heads‘ Stop Making Sense in honor of milestone anniversaries for each release this year.

In the first set, Pink Talking Fish will perform The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety in honor of the album’s 50th anniversary. Pink Floyd’s psychedelic opus has since become one of the best-selling albums of all time since its release in 1973, spending 14 years on the Billboard album charts and selling an estimated 45 million copies as of 2013. Classics like “Time”, “Us and Them”, and the closing “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse” have been PTF staples for years, but on May 5th the band will present the songs in full sequence as intended by Roger WatersDavid GilmourRichard Wright, and Nick Mason. (Though it appears Roger has some updates for the classic album.)

Following an intermission allowing fans to scoop their brains up off the floor, Pink Talking Fish will return to The Wellmont stage for a celebration of Talking Heads’ iconic concert film Stop Making Sense. Marking its 40th anniversary since hitting cinemas and turntablesStop Making Sense has since become the gold standard for concert films. Considering the Talking Heads star burned out only a few years after Stop Making Sense, the film survives as a flashpoint in music history as the new wave act laid the foundation for decades of musical innovation to come—just like Dark Side of the Moon.

Completing the trifecta of Pink Talking Fish’s namesake, the encore at The Wellmont will consist entirely of Phish songs. Phish fittingly bridges the seemingly disparate gap between Pink Floyd and Talking Heads, with the Vermont jam quartet covering Talking Heads’ Remain In Light on Halloween in 1996. Two years and two days later, Phish shocked fans at an undersold Monday-night concert in Utah by performing The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety just two days after performing the Velvet Underground‘s Loaded in full on Halloween.
