Best-selling author Alan Paul will commemorate the release of his new book, Brothers & Sisters: The Allman Brothers Band and the Inside Story of the Album That Defined the ’70s, with a series of events featuring special guests. Paul will start the July events at City Winery locations in New York City and Atlanta by discussing the tome, will then take questions from readers before the nights continue with performances of the music of The Allman Brothers Band.

Brothers & Sisters is due out via St. Martin’s Press on July 25. Alan Paul, who previously penned the New York Times bestseller One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band, offers a deep dive into the period between Duane Allman’s tragic death in 1971 and the group’s 1976 breakup for his next tome. The five-year span included the release of the iconic Brothers & Sisters album, the ABB playing a role in getting Jimmy Carter elected president, Gregg Allman marrying Cher and the group’s appearance in front of over 600,000 at Watkins Glen in July of 1973.

The author wrote the book based an extensive research, first-person interviews, historical documents and never-before-heard interviews conducted by Allman Brothers Band “Tour Mystic” Kirk West. Brothers & Sisters looks at the ABB’s connection with the Grateful Dead and influence on the entire Southern Rock genre in addition to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame act’s musical and cultural impact.

Alan Paul’s band, Friends of The Brothers, will take the stage for the book release show at City Winery NYC on July 30. Friends Of The Brothers will be joined by special guests Duane Betts, Lamar Williams Jr., Vaylor Trucks, Johnny Stachela and Peter Levin. Duane, Lamar and Vaylor are each sons of crucial ABB members who contributed to the album Brothers And Sisters. Kirk West will serve as emcee. End of the Line : A Tribute to The Allman Brothers Band at City Winery Atlanta on July 28. Vaylor Trucks and Cowboy’s Tommy Talton are also aboard as special guests for the Atlanta book release show.
