Dave Matthews will return home to South Africa for his first shows in his birth country in ten years.
After completing an expansive North American tour culminating in the band’s annual three-day, Labor Day weekend celebration at Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA (September 1st–3rd), Dave Matthews Band will head to South Africa to headline SunBet Arena in Pretoria on December 10th and Grand Arena in Cape Town on December 12th. The pair of concerts will mark DMB’s first performances in South Africa since 2013.
The announcement follows the release of Walk Around The Moon, Dave Matthews Band’s tenth studio album and first since 2018’s Come Together. Released last month, the album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 (the band’s previous seven albums all debuted at number one, making DMB the first group to achieve that feat), at number one on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums, and at number one on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums charts. The album features singles “Madman’s Eyes”, “Monsters”, and “Walk Around The Moon” and was recorded with producer Rob Evans in studios throughout Seattle, Charlottesville, and Los Angeles.

Matthews has helped 3 million trees since beginning the partnership in 2020. Dave Matthews Band will work with REVERB to offset carbon emissions for band/fan travel, creating a climate-positive tour. REVERB will also produce the tour’s annual eco-village.
Dave Matthews Band was named a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador in 2019 in recognition of the band’s long history of reducing the environmental footprint of its tours, going back to the band’s first shows in 1991. The group has sold more than 25 million tickets since then, making them the second largest ticket-seller in history, with a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs sold.
