Eagles Announce ‘The Long Goodbye’ Final Tour With Steely Dan

55

After 52 years, over 1,000 concerts, and more than 150 million albums sold, the Eagles are hanging it up (for real this time) after one final tour, dubbed The Long Goodbye. Set to begin in September and hit 13 major markets through November, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers indicated the tour will go on as long as audiences demand and expect it to run through 2025.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” the band wrote in a lengthy statement. “Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

The concerts at arenas throughout the U.S. will see Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. SchmitVince Gill, and Deacon Frey team up with another Hall of Fame act celebrating its 50-plus-year career, Steely Dan. The initial slate of concerts starts September 7th at New York’s Madison Square Garden and includes stops in Boston (9/11), Denver (10/5), Detroit (10/13), Cleveland (10/17), Atlanta (11/2), Charlotte (11/7), St. Paul (11/17), and more.

“We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round,” Eagles continued. “So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”
