Maggie Rose shared a new single/video, “Underestimate Me.” The fresh song is Rose’s first release with her new label partner, Big Loud, and features members of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Gregg Allman Band and more.
“Underestimate Me” contains contributions from The 400 Unit’s Sadler Vaden on guitar and Chad Gamble on drums. Gregg Allman/Amanda Shires keyboardist Peter Levin adds keys while Alabama Shakes’ Zac Cockrell holds down the bass. Keyboardist Kaitlyn Connor and guitarist Kyle Lewis from Maggie’s band also contributed to the track.
Maggie Rose co-wrote “Underestimate Me” with Chris Gelbuda (Meghan Trainor) and Henry Brill (Joy Oladokun). Grammy-winner Ben Tanner produced the track and co-mixed it with fellow Grammy-winner engineer Bobby Holland.
The idea for “Underestimate Me” came from Maggie’s podcast Salute the Songbird with Maggie Rose.
“I always ask women, ‘What’s your superpower?,” Rose noted. “Many of them say that they feel being underestimated is their superpower, because they just blow people’s expectations out of the water. It’s a song for people to wake up and brush their teeth to in the morning when they’re trying to gas themselves up for a good day.”
“Underestimate Me” arrived with a music video shot in Maggie’s home base of Nashville and directed by Noah Tidmore. Watch below:
