Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea Call Out NSW Govt’s ‘War On Festivals’ On Stage

Gladys Berejiklian has now been called out by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist, Flea on stage during their Australian tour.

As reported The Music, Flea asked the crowd if New South Wales had “figured out that stupid shit yet.”

Flea says, “Trying to pass that law so it’s impossible to put on a concert. Make it hard for people to go see live music? That’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”

“What could make a community stronger and better than everyone going out to see live music? Jesus Christ, who the fuck came up with that idea.”

Anthony Kiedis chimes in saying, “that’s some bullshit.”

“Some fucking outlandish shit they’re trying to do in New South Wales. Trying to stop live gigs,” Flea continues.

“Live music forever, for the people.” See the full video below.

Last week, five music festival operators announced they will be taking legal action following the NSW Government’s release of the list of festivals they deem to be ‘high risk. A special fundraising concert twill be held at Sydney’s Metro Theatre tonight to kick off the ‘Unite for the Night’ campaign, hoping to draw awareness to the policies and commitments of major parties leading up to NSW’s state election later this month.

This isn’t the first time Flea’s on stage banter made headlines during the Chili Peppers’ recent Australian tour. During an unfortunate power outage on their first stop in Hobart, Flea entertained the crowd with acrobatics and handstands for a good 15 to 20 minutes before the power was restored.
