Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Join The Doobie Brothers For “Listen To The Music” In Jacksonville [Photos/Videos]

Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi popped in to The Doobie Brothers‘ 50th Anniversary Tour in their hometown of Jacksonville, FL Monday night ready to do more than just “Listen to the Music”.

After recently sitting with Chris Stapleton on “Tennessee Whiskey” during his set opening for George Strait‘s All-American Road Show tour at Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium, the two Tedeschi Trucks Band leaders showed up to Daily’s Place Amphitheater for another spontaneous collaboration.

The Doobie Brothers first welcomed Trucks, who sat in on a cover of Sonny Boy Williamson‘s “Don’t Start Me Talkin’” alongside the show’s special guest, Robert Cray. Trucks stuck around for “It Keeps You Runnin’” and “Eyes of Silver” before exiting the stage.

The climax of the evening, though, came at the end of the night when Trucks and Tedeschi joined the band for its 1972 hit “Listen to the Music”, capping off a three-song encore that also included “Black Water” and “Takin’ It to the Streets”.

The Doobie Brothers’ tour resumes tonight, Wednesday, July 10th at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL and continues throughout July and August, wrapping up August 30th at USANA Amphitheater in Salt Lake City, UT, where the band will be joined by special guest Steve Winwood.
