They say that there is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow and Friday, July 12th was no exception when that rainbow ended down that highway at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield. After brief downpours and a super extra dose of humidity it was time to dry the lenses and start this party! Fans from the New England area filled the parking lots early and braved the rain while enjoying their tailgate parties.

Nothing screams summer tradition than this annual stop from the Dave Matthews Band and every fan was smiling in anticipation of what the night would bring. The Dave Matthews Band from Charlottesville, Virginia are Dave Matthews (Vocals, Guitar), Stefan Lessard (Bass), Carter Beauford (Drums, Vocals), Time Reynolds (Guitar), Rashawn Ross (Trumpet), Jeff Coffin (Saxophone), and Buddy Strong (Keyboards).

Dave and the band took the stage around 8pm and after a few sips of what one could only imagine was a great blend of coffee Dave grabbed his signature guitar and took the fans on a music journey through his deep catalog of songs.

They started the evening with “So Right” because, well it was! “Big Eyed Fish” was the next great tune, did Dave play that to thank the northeast’s own Big Eyed Phish cover band? The drinks were flowing on this sizzling summer night as they played “Bartender” that led us right into the “Warehouse” that featured  “Louie Louie” snippets. The band showed zero signs of letting up as they played a barrage oh hits and classics like the cover of Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round in Circles” and Daves signature “Gravedigger.” One song I was listening to as I drove to the venue looking at the gorgeous rainbow, was “All Along the Watchtower.” Dave’s take on that Bob Dylan classic is just one of my favorites, especially with the “Stairway to Heaven” teases. The encore featured a solo rendition of “Some Devil” and concluded the perfect evening with “Crash into Me.”
