Slash brought his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival to Premier Theater at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, CT on Friday for a night of blues, gospel, and rock ‘n’ roll.

The blockbuster tour, whose acronym stands for “Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality N’ Tolerance,” has featured a number of high-profile artists in addition to the Guns N’ Roses guitarist himself, from Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson. Friday’s show reflected the bluesier side of Slash’s musical background with a lineup featuring Delta blues standard-bearer Keb Mo’, Sacred Steel guitar master Robert Randolph, and soulful alt-blues rocker ZZ Ward.

Like many of his heroes, Slash’s guitar playing was influenced directly by blues musicians, and his sets for the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival tour have consisted largely of old blues covers. Songs by Bukka White, Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, Lightning Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, Robert Johnson, and Elmore James all appeared in Friday’s setlist alongside covers of Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan, plus soul numbers “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” by The Temptations and “Key to the Highway” by Booker T. & the MG’s and more.

The tour continues with stops around the South and Texas featuring Robert Randolph, ZZ Ward, Larkin Poe, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram on select dates. For complete ticketing details and more information, head here.
