Lauryn Hill has quietly canceled her upcoming co-headlining tour with Fugees days before it was set to begin. The tour was supposed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hill’s iconic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as well as Fugees’ The Score.

Hill made no official announcement regarding the cancelation, with ticketholders notified that the shows had been canceled and refunds would be issued through the point of purchase. Ticketmaster no longer lists the U.S. dates for the tour, which was scheduled to begin on Friday in Tampa, FL. No reason has been given for the cancelations.

This is the second year in a row that Hill has canceled some or all of her concerts celebrating Miseducation alongside her Fugees bandmates Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel. Last year, Hill played several shows—including an L.A. appearance where the famously tardy singer told the crowd, “Y’all lucky I make it on this … stage every night,”—before ultimately punting the tour to 2024 due to vocal strain issues. Before that, Fugees were supposed to go on a reunion tour in 2021 that was postponed and finally canceled in January 2022 with the band citing COVID concerns.

These cancelations come as Pras Michel continues to fight his conviction as part of an international multi-billion-dollar money laundering scheme. The Brooklyn rapper faces up to 20 years in prison after he was convicted last year of political conspiracy for his work as an unregistered foreign agent. Fugees had originally planned a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album The Score in 2021, however, the group canceled that outing shortly before the allegations against Michel came to light (they did however play one abridged show in NYC and a surprise mini-reunion at Roots Picnic). Last fall, Pras requested a retrial, arguing his former attorney David Kenner used artificial intelligence to draft his closing argument. In January, Kenner was fined and sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation for sharing protected discovery material with reporters ahead of Michel’s 2023 trial.
