Rolling Sets has shared details of its 2024 iteration, once again set to take place at The Entrance’s Memorial Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales this December. Headlining the festival will be UK indie-rock trio (and honorary Australians) The Wombats, whose performance will be their only one in all of New South Wales on their to-be-announced return to the country. Joining The Wombats at the top of the bill are national headliners such as G Flip, Lime Cordiale and Ruel. G Flip kicked off 2024 by breaking Wolfmother‘s 19-year-long record for most songs in a single Hottest 100 – racking up seven in total, including the number-two track ‘The Worst Person Alive’. Lime Cordiale, meanwhile, recently became the first Australian act in over a year to top the ARIA Albums Chart with their third studio album Enough Of The Sweet Talk.
The Wombats – ‘Your Body Is A Weapon’
Rolling Sets made its debut in January 2020 in Coffs Harbour on the nothern coast of New South Wales. It was headlined by Hilltop Hoods, and also featured performances from The Rubens, George Alice and Mallrat – the lattermost of which is also returning for this year’s festival. After an extended hiatus due to COVID, the festival re-emerged in 2022 in its new home on the Central Coast.
There, the Hilltop Hoods once again headlined – this time, being joined by the likes of DMA’s, Dope Lemon and Dune Rats. Its 2023 iteration was headed up by Ocean Alley and Spacey Jane, with sets from The Jungle Giants, Sycco, The Dreggs and The Terrys.
The Wombats were last in Australia circa October 2023, performing at that year’s Grapevine Gathering. While in the country, the band made their sixth appearance on triple j‘s Like A Version, opportunistically covering Kate Bush‘s ‘Running Up That Hill’ as it returned to the charts for the first time in 35 years thanks to its appearance on the latest season of Stranger Things.
