Missy Higgins has been announced as the latest inductee to the ARIA Hall Of Fame. Her formal induction will take place at this year’s ARIA Awards ceremony at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Wednesday, November 20th. In a press statement, Higgins said she was “very honoured and grateful” to be inducted into the Hall – which, additionally, makes her the first woman to receive the honour since Kasey Chambers in 2018.

“So many artists I love and admire are in the ARIA Hall Of Fame, so it feels a bit surreal to be joining them,” she said. “This year has already been really special, now this is going to make it even more memorable.”

ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd, too, described Higgins as “one of Australia’s most loved and admired artists” in her own statement. “The ARIA Hall of Fame is all about celebrating legendary music talent who leave a unique mark, inspiring not only the industry but Australia and the world,” she said. “Missy is the absolute epitome of this.”

2024 has seen Higgins take her tour The Second Act across Australia, beginning in late March and extending into early August with a grand total of 40 shows across the country. In the first half of the show, Higgins played largely solo compositions, including deep cuts from across her catalogue and unreleased material from her forthcoming sixth studio album, The Second Act. The second half of the show, meanwhile, saw Higgins and her band perform her multi-platinum 2004 debut album The Sound Of White in its entirety, to commemorate its 20th anniversary.

It was announced yesterday (August 14th) that Higgins will perform a final encore show for The Second Act tour on Friday, December 6th at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl as part of this year’s Always Live program. She will be joined by longtime collaborator Dan Sultan and Mia Wray.

Prior to Higgins, Jet were the most recent inductees into the ARIA Hall, with their induction taking place at the 2023 ARIA Awards ceremony. The last decade has also seen the likes of Tina Arena, Crowded House, Darryl Braithwaite, Human Nature and the late Archie Roach also inducted.
