Derek Trucks has announced the launch of Ass Pocket Whiskey (APW), a new line of premium, limited-run bourbons.
As the name suggests, APW is not intended to sit on a shelf collecting dust alongside other prized bottles of whiskey, but to be enjoyed. That’s why it comes in handy 200ml flasks—perfect for an ass pocket.
“Ain’t It A Shame… that so many people are buying great bottles of bourbon but are too afraid to open them because they are ‘collectible’?” the APW website reads. “Bourbon used to be about enjoying and experiencing the liquid. How did this ‘fear of opening’ start and how can we make it stop? Introducing Ass Pocket Whiskey a new rare whiskey collection by Derek Trucks.”
The line is set to debut next month at Bourbon & Beyond Music Festival in Louisville, KY, where Trucks will perform a headlining set with Tedeschi Trucks Band. He will also kick off the weekend with intimate performance at Louisville’s Show Barn at Ashbourne Farms on Wednesday, September 18th, and participate in a panel discussion with Kroger’s wine and spirits expert and festival curator Chris Blandford and Carrie Van Winkle, cofounder of Pappy & Company.
Bourbon & Beyond attendees will have the chance to sample and purchase APW during the festival at the Ass Pocket Whiskey Bar and will be able to have bottles shipped directly to their homes. Any remaining bottles will be made available via e-commerce exclusively at AssPocketWhiskey.com after the festival.
