The Libertines have shared details of a three-date east coast Australian tour for April 2025. The tour will mark the band’s first shows in Australia in just over seven years, as well as their first ever headlining tour of the country with a full line-up, following a tour in August of 2004 which took place without co-frontman Pete Doherty. The London indie rock quartet recently released their fourth studio album, All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade. Prior to its April 2024 release, the band had released three singles from the album: ‘Run Run Run’ in October 2023, ‘Night Of The Hunter’ in December 2023 and ‘Shiver’ in January 2024. The album also features ‘Man With The Melody’, which the band co-wrote with Jamie T.
The Libertines – ‘Run Run Run’
The Libertines originally split up in 2004, shortly after the release of their self-titled second album. Following the split, both frontmen span off into new bands: Babyshambles for Doherty, and Dirty Pretty Things for Carl Barat. Doherty would remain a tabloid fixture for the ensuing decades, including stints in prison, being kicked out of rehab and drug issues that plague him to this day – telling Louis Theroux last year in a new interview that he was “a very sick man”.
Following their 2014 reunion and their 2015 comeback album Anthems For Doomed Youth, the band toured Australia for the first time with Doherty in 2018 – playing the first (and, to date, only) Sydney City Limits festival as well as headlining shows in Brisbane and Melbourne. Following the sell-out of their Forum Theatre show, the band also added a second last-minute show at The Curtin.
