Fleetwood Mac Postpones North American Tour, Cancels Recently Announced New Orleans Jazz Fest Slot

Following the postponement of two shows this past week—April 5th at Philadelphia, PA’s Wells Fargo Center and April 2nd at Boston’s TD Garden—due to a band member illness, Fleetwood Mac has officially postponed the remainder of their North American tour. Today, official sources confirm that the disruption is due to vocalist Stevie Nicks‘ ongoing recovery from the flu.

“As an update to previous Fleetwood Mac posts regarding a band member illness, Stevie Nicks has the flu. While she is feeling better already, management has consulted with her doctors and have decided to reschedule the remaining four shows of their North American tour to allow for her full recovery,” a rep for the band said in a statement per Rolling Stone.

The band was currently at the tail end of a lengthy North American tour, and was just added to the May 2nd lineup for the 50th-anniversary edition of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The band’s addition to the Jazz Fest lineup came as a replacement for The Rolling Stones, whose headlining set was canceled along with the postponement of the band’s entire U.S. tour due to a health issue affecting Mick Jagger. On Thursday, Jagger underwent heart valve surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Reports have indicated that The Rolling Stones’ postponed U.S. tour could be rescheduled to begin as early as July.

Mick Fleetwood provided his own statement, noting, “We are having more fun than ever on this current tour, but as we all know, touring life comes with its challenges. The flu has sidelined Stevie for a couple of weeks but she is on the mend and we look forward to getting back out on the road. We so apologize to the fans, but we are working on rescheduling.”

The band’s scheduled shows in Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary will all be rescheduled for October or November. Ticketholders will receive updates and details shortly. Unfortunately, Fleetwood’s New Orleans performance will not be re-scheduled and Jazz Fest will once again need to find a replacement for their newly added Thursday lineup.
