Serj Tankian is continuing his onslaught of post-System Of A Down solo music, delivering a brand new single dubbed ‘Life’s Revengeful Son’.
“The final revolution will occur when the arms of the clock fall / Jesus seen in the streets, dragging a car axel instead of the cross,” Tankian sings in the haunting track, which begins acoustically before building in intensity with distorted guitars and dramatic orchestration, led by Tankian’s trademark Armenian-inspired melodies.

The song marks the fourth single from Tankian’s freshly released solo EP, FOUNDATIONS.
The songs from the EP, including ‘Life’s Revengeful Son’, are all reworkings of rejected System Of A Down tracks that date back decades, which the nu metal icon felt compelled to bring to life as solo offerings.
“Originally I had these songs in mind for a System record if we were to end up doing a System record,” he previously told Spin. “But as we could not really see eye to eye on how to go forward with that I decided to finish them off myself and release them as an EP.”
Tankian’s FOUNDATIONS EP also follows on from his first solo EP, 2021’s Elasticity, which was similarly filled with rejected songs he’d written during SOAD’s Toxicity sessions.
“…I think I’m gonna call it Elasticity just because I wanted to do it with System and it didn’t happen,” Tankian said at the time.
Its fresh follow-up, FOUNDATIONS, is a lot more sonically diverse, with the singer and activist describing it as “music of rebellion”.
