Soulive Announces Guests For Bowlive 2019 Weekend 2: Marcus King, George Porter Jr., Sam Kininger

163

For years, jazz/funk fusion trio Soulive held down an annual winter spot at the Brooklyn Bowl for a guest-filled residency, appropriately dubbed Bowlive. After taking a year off from the tradition, the band returned in 2017 for a summer rendition, then took 2018 off. Now, in celebration of their 20-year anniversary as a band, Soulive will make their triumphant return to the Brooklyn Bowl for a reduced, six-night Bowlive run on July 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, and 20th.

Part of the excitement of these Bowlive shows is the unexpected moments that often transpire. You truly never know who will walk through the doors of the Brooklyn Bowl, especially when Eric KrasnoNeal Evans, and Alan Evans are hosting a show.

Today, the band (and the Bowl) have announced their slate of billed special guests for the second weekend of Bowlive 2019. On Thursday, July 17th, Soulive will be joined by young guitar wizard and frequent Krasno collaborator Marcus King. On Friday, July 19th, The Meters bassist and New Orleans music legend George Porter Jr. will hit the Brooklyn Bowl stage with Soulive. On Saturday, July 20th, longtime Soulive and Lettuce collaborator Sam Kininger will round out the lineup for the final night of Bowlive 2019.

This new announcement follows last week’s news that Soulive will be joined by Ivan Neville (July 11th), Oteil Burbridge (July 12th) and John Scofield (July 13th) on the first weekend of the Bowlive residency.
