The Rolling Stones continued their rescheduled No Filter North American Tour with a performance at FedExField in Landover, MD earlier this week. It was during the stadium concert where the famous rock band delivered a memorable bust out of “Mercy, Mercy”, a tune they haven’t covered since their earliest years in the 1960s.
The band’s performance of the Don Covay & The Goodtimers tune came five songs into their 20-song set, sandwiched between “You Got Me Rocking” and “Rocks Off”. The last time the band had played the tune in front of a live audience was 50 years ago, almost to the very day, as it last appeared in the setlist on July 5th, 1969, during The Stones’ famous Hyde Park performance in tribute to their then-recently departed co-founding member, Brian Jones.
