Brandi Carlile’s three-show run at the new The Fillmore Minneapolis continued Thursday night. Following Wednesday’s venue-opening, stripped-down performance, night two saw Carlile accompanied by her full band and featured her cover of a song written by local icon Prince.
“Hold Out Your Hand” was selected to open Thursday’s concert. Carlile soon offered her pairing of “My Song” with U2’s “Where The Streets Have No Name,” which was followed by a string of favorites, “The Story,” “The Eye,” “The Mother” and “Fulton County Jane Doe.” Carlile also sang a moving cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case Of You” and once again brought out opening act Courtney Marie Andrews who joined a cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man.”
Carlile saved her Prince tribute for the encore, which began with “Beginning To Feel The Years” and continued with The Purple One’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which Sinead O’Connor made famous. The encore and concert wrapped with “Party of One.”
Carlile concludes her stay at The Fillmore Minneapolis tonight with a special Valentine’s Day performance of her EP, XOBC. Watch footage of “Nothing Compares 2 U” below::
