John Prine canceled several tour dates to deal with a health issue. The 71-year-old singer-songwriter recently underwent successful hip replacement surgery.
Prine’s canceled tour dates include shows scheduled this month in Europe, a pair of shows in March in Hawaii and his Australia run of shows in April, including an appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest. Prine plans to return to touring with a performance at MerleFest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina on April 26. Those with tickets to the canceled concerts are directed to contact the venue for refund information.
The statement from Prine noted he aggravated an old hip injury while touring Europe and returned to the United States for surgery. Prine’s wife Fiona Prine revealed in an Instagram post (see below) that John was experiencing “terrible, really distressing pain” and had his hip replaced.
