Osiris Media launched a new podcast entitled Past, Present, Future, Live! with an episode featuring Eric Krasno. The guitarist/producer opens up on his musical journey and what lies ahead as part of the initial Past, Present, Future, Live! installment, which ends with Kraz performing three songs at his home studio.
The weekly podcast series breaks down artist’s careers into four parts, as they discuss their early influences, current creative process and how they envision their future before closing out the episode with a live set. Osiris CEO RJ Bee hosts Past, Present, Future, Live! and each episode comes accompanied by a Spotify playlist featuring the music each featured guest discusses.
Krasno and Bee start the discussion by talking about Eric’s introduction to music by his family. Eric notes the varied influences that inform the music he’s made over the past three-plus decades. Kraz recalls the formation of Lettuce and tells the tale of how the band got its name. Then, the “present” portion of the episode finds Eric tracing the roots of his solo career which includes the story of his recently released concept album, Telescope. Krasno also discusses mental health support for musicians and the tragic mystery of his friend and collaborator Neal Casal’s death.
Eric dove into the “future” by noting a number of goals he has in mind such as winning a Grammy for one of his own projects and collaborating with Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker. Other topics hit upon are how he went from producing beats in school to producing albums by the likes of Aaron Neville and Talib Kweli, his appreciation for the music of the Grateful Dead, how he was inspired to sing and more. The episode ends with Krasno performing originals “Unconditional Love” and “Cary My Name” and a cover of the Dead’s “Ramble On Rose.”
