Blackberry Smoke recorded a new EP at the recently reopened Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, Georgia that came out today. The band shared in-studio video featuring their version of Titus Turner’s “Grits Ain’t Groceries” from Live From The Capricorn Sound Studios that saw BBS joined by Wet Willie vocalist Jimmy Hall and The Black Bettys.
Wet Willie released their take on “Grits Ain’t Groceries” on their 1972 album Wet Willie II. Blackberry Smoke’s Live From The Capricorn Sound Studios features “Grits Ain’t Groceries” and five other songs that have ties to Capricorn Sound Studios including covers of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Midnight Rider” and “Revival.” Hall sang lead on BBS’ version of “Grits Ain’t Groceries,” which also incorporates backing vocals from The Black Bettys.
