When Donald Trump introduced a ban on critical race theory in federal diversity training as un-American, I knew it was a bat signal in the sky to conservative evangelicals to save his electoral chances. According to Pew Research, only 59% of white evangelicals strongly approve of Trump’s job performance currently, down 8 points from April 2020.
