Bob Weir & Bonnie Raitt Join Jackson Browne At Sweetwater Music Hall Benefit Concert

88

Last night, Jackson Browne headlined the Music Heals International’s 5th Anniversary Benefit Concert at Bob Weir’s Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA. Sponsored by Douglas Rosenberg, proceeds from the performance benefitted Music Heals International’s Rob Wasserman Memorial Fund. Wasserman, Weir’s longtime Ratdog bandmate and close musical compadre, passed away in June of 2016.

Joined by Greg Leisz and Paul Beaubrun, Jackson Browne worked through original material including “For Everyman”, “Off Of Wonderland”, “The Dreamer”, “The Long Way Around”, and “You Know The Night” before offering up a cover of Warren Zevon’s hit, “Lawyers, Guns and Money”, off of his 1978 album Excitable Boy.

Browne then invited up blues legend Bonnie Raitt to assist on a take of his original tune, “World In Motion”, the title track off his 1989 album that features Raitt on backing vocals. Browne continued to work through originals “The Pretender” and “Running On Empty”, before inviting up another legendary musician on stage. Hometown hero Bob Weir joined Browne for a take on the Eagles’ “Take It Easy”, the 1972 hit that, in part, propelled Browne’s career to stardom. With Weir staying on stage, Browne brought his set to a close with a cover of “Not Fade Away”.

Returning to the stage for an encore, Browne invited up Weir and Raitt to assist on a cover of Little Steven & The Disciples Of Soul’s “I Am A Patriot”, a song that Browne loved so much, he decided to record a cover of it for his 1989 album, World In Motion.
