This year’s Florida Jazz & Blues Jam has been canceled. The event was supposed to take place at Sunset Cove Amphitheater in Boca Raton, Florida on January 26. Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band featuring special guest Oteil Burbridge, Larry Carlton Quintet, Sonny Landreth and Brandon “Taz” Niederauer were slated to play the fourth annual installment of the festival.

As Live For Live Music reported, the ticketing link has been updated with a note reading, “FLORIDA JAZZ AND BLUES JAM 2019 Saturday January 26, 2019 is no longer happening because there was not enough support from Florida in the ticket sales.” In addition, organizer Music Jam Productions deleted information about the event from its website and Facebook page.

On Wednesday night, a note officially announcing the cancelation was posted by Music Jam Productions on the Facebook event page. The organizer mentioned refunds will be processed and referenced Dickey Betts’ canceling ahead of a similar event the company produced last year. Here’s the full note:

This show is canceled. Despite the incredible line up and a significant buzz talk about this show, once again South Florida failed to show up and support this show. The Betts cancel in 2018 was a big hit to take financially, and also probably I am sure on my reputation. Let me be clear, on every show I have done in the past 6 years everyone has made money but Music Jam Productions. I did not post this until I emailed and initiated total refunds to those that DID support this show.I let the supporters know first of course as they are the ones who count and deserve the respect at the same time of the artists. Due to paypal it will take 7 to 10 days for the credit to show up in the purchasers’ account. Worthy to note, I have also had major disagreements with how the venue I typically use handles business. I won’t share facts on that, as I remain professional, but its been an increasing issue for me with just cause. I am a business man and know when it is time to move on. Don’t listen to gossipers who have posted that we are not offering refunds. That is 100% false information and I asked her to remove that post and to this moment she has not. Why? And confirmation of the sad state of affairs of the live music scene down here when you all pile up on a false post complaining such as hers about refunds not being issued when you didn’t even buy a ticket, not much has changed since I played the circuits down here in the 80s. DRAMA. So…on you go….pay the high fees to Live Nation and AEG, I gave this a good run and may take it up elsewhere…the positive comments I received over the years far outweigh the negativity, those who dwell in drama and hate. My shows were never intended for those types anyway. Carry on. A very special thank you to those that have supported and attended the shows over the years.
