On February 8, Galactic will release a new album entitled Already Ready Already on their Tchoup-Zilla Records imprint via Thirty Tigers. Today, the New Orleans-based band previewed the LP with the single “Going Straight Crazy” featuring Princess Shaw.
Galactic recorded Already Ready Already as part of sessions that will also yield a forthcoming album described as “more of a throwback Meters thing” by bassist Ben Ellman. Other contributors to Already Ready Already include Miss Charm Taylor, David Shaw, Nahko, Erica Falls and Boyfriend. Ellman and the band’s Robert Mercurio produced the LP.
“Trust me, I loved having Macy Gray and Mavis Staples on our last record,” Mercurio said of the performers featured on Already Ready Already. “It was an honor to work with them. But there’s something fun about making music with someone not everybody has heard of and end up getting a great reaction to it.
